Driving from Rockhampton:The Field is located 8 km south of the GPO (as the crow fly’s). However, your first reference point is the Spire of Capricorn, travel south (100 m) then turn left into Port Curtis Road, the Truck Dealer Ship should be on the right of you. Head across the railway lines and follow the road until you reach the Archer Hotel on your right. Turn left and then immediately right (in that order) and you should now have Port Curtis Primary School on your left, keep following the road and if your suspension is still intact you should, after approximately 3 km pass the "wool wash" and reach Roope Bridge (which is now a floodway). Cross the Bridge, keep driving for approximately 1 km, then turn left into River Road. Drive down River Road 1 km and you find the entrance to Gavial Creek Field on your left. It is well signed. |
