What happens when a LiPoly pack is nicked when using a knife to cut it out of a model.

PhilWh.JPG (58868 bytes) The LiPoly pack 'went off like a flair' when nicked with a knife while trying to cut it free from the model.
PitArea.JPG (91408 bytes) Lauries trainer gets the 'dust cloud of the day' award. PatternPlanes.JPG (93093 bytes) Laurie had trainer number 4 on board before leaving the field (thanks Rory).
PhilGarry.JPG (86089 bytes) Can't be unfair and not include mine. Here is what happens if you are forced down (elevator fell off) too close to a horse (they kick). OnParade.JPG (76816 bytes) Dicks Hussler- Looks like the elevator joiner let go during an aerobatic spin. result- it kept spinning until the ground stopped it.
StripEast.JPG (49181 bytes) That WAS Geoff's Trenton Terror. Loss of radio, too violent loops, folded wing and the enevitable collision with mother earth. PitNorthWest.JPG (54345 bytes) The pilot - Craig Tarlington (originally from Rocky, now living near Brisbane)
The plane - World Models Castrol Cap 232
The reception at home - His wife was happy because she knew what to get him for Christmas!!
Beaver bites dust I have made the Oops page again. Tip stalled at too slow a speed and spun the Beaver in.
Pure pilot error.
WallsPlane.JPG (89656 bytes) When a wing breaks off in mid air, the end is what you see before you. Lauries Boomerang didn't come back.
Magic2T.JPG (110742 bytes) Nick admiring Lauries reshaped spinner which was buried a couple of inches into the the ground, crankshaft still attached. CubT.JPG (113289 bytes) This was a mid air collision. Note the skid mark accross the top of Lauries wing from Wally's Yak.
JohnHCubT.JPG (89902 bytes) Another mid air. The wheel of the Foamy tore out most of the Sky Raiders wing. Size has no bearing in a mid air. SilentDream.JPG (120561 bytes) To find the only puddle in a 20 acre field just rip the wing off at 200ft and spiral in.
AndrewT.JPG (97429 bytes) Model Ambulance on the scene to pick up the remains of Lauries combat machine, but wait, wheres the motor? 000_0026.jpg (654130 bytes) Theres the motor, found at the bottom of the impact crater.
Big Jigsaw Puzzle Craig had never been able to get the Gemini into a true stalled spin, this time he succeeded. Even the motor was in 3 pieces.
On a more serious note:- This is the consequence of people not following the procedure and not using the frequency board correctly and with a bit of effort to make sure the key is in the correct position. Remember, you are liable for any damage you cause. dirt in carby In the heat of battle - were pretty sure dirt in the carby stopped this motor - the only damage was the firewall and carby.
Failed elevator servo on a fast eHawk meant a fast dive towards the ground. Lucky (unlucky?) the shade cloth caught the plane before impact. Thats only the second impact on the shade cloth in 2 years (so far :-)

Two smiling faces at a crash site???

Result of a mid-air collision, John's Macchi lost its elevator and did the big dirt dive. The pilot on the left escaped unscathed (his plane as well).

The impact of John's Macchi was so hard it was worth a couple more shots to give you the idea of how far a plane can bury itself. The entire cowl is buried.

Here you can see the hole and just how much of the plane was buried.
And a link to the rebuild story:

Not to be outdone, this was a deadstick aproach but didn't make the final turn against the wind. This picnic table is at the end of the field, could have sworn the plane was closer :-(

As it has been a while since adding any new 'oops' to our page, here is one to make up for it.
